I love to make my own spice mixes at home. It’s very convenient, I can control the amount of sodium, it’s cheaper, and there are no extra unknowns in it.
Salt is one of those things that your taste for will change. If you start eating more- you will want more. If you start eating less eventually you will like less on your food. Heaven forsake I use a spice mix from the store now, my husband complains that it has too much salt. That’s a good thing!
Here are a few that I like- Taco seasoning being the most used in this house!
If you save jars from empty spices, you can fill your old jar with the spice mixtures and put a new label on it.

great IDEA, I do this too, but with rubs, they can be so expensive and the best part is I already have everything in the cupboard!

great minds think a like! I haven’t experimented with rubs really, maybe I will start.

Kristin, have you priced a rub lately? Crazy! I do not salt meat when grilling/smoking and the store bought ones are 1/4 salt.
